Program
You will be picked by our representative from your Nairobi hotel after breakfast or at the airport at 0700hrs and drive through the spectacular Great Rift Valley with a stop-over at the escarpment view point en-route to Masai Mara. Arrive on time for lunch at the Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.
Masai Mara is world famous for the annual great wildebeest migration that takes place in July and August where close to a million wildebeest close the Mara River in search of pasture. At
1600hrs ? 1830hrs you enjoy your first evening game drive, our guide will take you through the reserve where you will be surprised by the high concentration of wild animals in this reserve.
Here herds of elephants roam freely, wildebeest, buffalos, impalas, Thomson’s gazelles and Zebras graze in their numbers. Big cats are not hard to spot either including the elusive leopard, it is one of the few place you are guaranteed to spot the famous Big Five on a single morning or afternoon.
A day in this haven of wildlife with morning game drive at 0630 hrs ? 0830 hrs. Return to the camp for breakfast. Spend the morning at leisure with an optional visit to the Maasai village. Alternatively, you can take a nature walk within the lodge with the naturalist who will tell you more about the fauna and flora of the Mara ecosystem. Lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure. At 1600hrs ? 1830hrs you enjoy your evening game drive. This reserve is not only the most popular game reserve in the country, it is probably why people visit Kenya. The reserve is set on a classic African Savannah and the huge density of wildlife is astounding. Zebras, wildebeest and gazelles graze in large herds and as a matter of fact where prey is in plenty so are the predators.
Have an early breakfast and leave the lodge for the famous Lake Nakuru National Park. Our guide will drive you through the scenic Rift Valley escarpment arriving on time for lunch at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge. Proceed for an late afternoon game drive from 16:00hrs to 18:30 hours. This park is home to eye-catching flocks of the Greater and lesser flamingos which color the shores of the lake pink. The park has the highest concentration of birds with over 450 bird species recorded here which include pelicans, egrets, plovers and storks. It is also one of the few places that you will see the endangered black and white rhino as well as the Rothschild giraffe.
Rise up early for your last morning game drive between 0630 hrs to 0830hrs before returning to Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge for breakfast. You may further explore the park after the breakfast or relax at the lodge and later leave for Nairobi. Should you be interested, you can pass-by Lake Naivasha for an optional boat ride. Arrive in Nairobi at around 1600hrs. Should there be time before your home flight you might be interested in city tour. If not you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to catch your flight bringing to an end what we hope is a safari of your lifetime.
